If you’re from Detroit, you already know. If you’re from anywhere else, you may be in disbelief. But it’s true… Detroit is becoming a bona fide food destination.
But you don’t have to take our word for it. National Geographic has the scoop: 6 Unexpected Cities for Food Lovers
“Wait, Detroit? Yes. The city better known as a center for automakers and manufacturing is revving its culinary motors,” writes author Nancy Gupton.
Among the spots NatGeo recommends to have a “food frenzy” is downtown Detroit restaurant, Dime Store, where you can enjoy its popular signature dish, Duck Bop Hash: house-confit duck leg, bulgogi and potatoes, topped with pickled veggies, Sriracha and over-easy eggs.
Then, head over to Greektown for some of the country’s best ethnic eats or Midtown for nighttime spots with some serious culinary chops, suggests the magazine.
Whatever your choice, one thing’s for certain: you won’t leave the D on an empty stomach.
Thank you for the love, National Geographic. #detroitproud
